“Quiet location, helpful staff”
We stayed here with an unruly group of 40 Americans - mostly high-schoolers. Staff were patient and helpful. We stayed here with an unruly group of 40 Americans - mostly high-schoolers. Staff were patient and helpful. Rooms are clean, cleaning staff is prompt and unobtrusive, all bathroom fixtures worked well, good shower water pressure/heat. Good breakfast spread in the top floor cafe, but BYO protein- gorgeous sunrise view over the city from rooftop patio. Stay quiet during quiet hours. Don't overload the elevator - stairs may be easier/faster. Bonus: set smelly travel shoes on the windowsill to air overnight; just pull them in before the pigeons show up in the morning!

The Hotel Carlo Magno was a pleasant surprise. My room on the second floor was spacious. The bath was also spacious. AND hot water was really hot, unlike some other hotels in Rome. Also the room was quiet with no sounds from the next rooms. Another surprise was the breakfast; not the usual coffee and pastry, but a fuller fare with lots of juice, fruit, cheese and cold cuts, plus the pastry, bread and cakes. Service was very good with a lovely setting. The room was cleaned and linen. changed daily. No complaints. Oh, and the wi-fi worked perfect. The area is decent, not too far from city center, on the Nomentana way, clean area. Buses go to Termini and Piazza Venezia. There are restaurants, supermarkets and cleaners nearby if you need them. The new Metro B line is about five blocks away. If you have luggage get there by bus, the 60L or 90 from Termini stops one block from the Hotel, at the Val d'Aosta stop on the via Nomentana. I would recommend it to friends and stay there again myself.

The hotel is in a great location as it is just a short distance from the center of Rome. However, this means that there can be quite a bit of noise. The hotel is in a great location as it is just a short distance from the center of Rome. However, this means that there can be quite a bit of noise. The rooms were a decent size, but the bathroom had a somewhat small shower that did not even have hot water. Not sure if this was because there were too many people using the hot water at the same time, or if they never have hot water. Breakfast was good in the morning, and also had decent views as it was on the top floor. I would recommend taking the stairs if you can because the elevator is very slow, and you might as well get a small workout instead of waiting for 10 minutes.

“Average”
We stayed for three nights. Breakfast Buffet was typical and plentiful. Rooms small with bed and pillows needing upgrading. Bring your own shampoo. Bathroom clean. AC not efficient slept with open windows. Close to Main Street so very noisy. Small slow elevator.
