“Soon to close”
This property has been sold, and will close permanently on May 31, 2022. This property has been sold, and will close permanently on May 31, 2022. I forgot a jacket in the closet of the room I checked out of, and it's gone forever, despite my repeated efforts to contact the responsible managers. Great location, decent facility, but with the closure looming over the staff, don't expect them to sacrifice their personal interests, for those of the property, or its guests.

“Another so-so stay, my last.”

As a Hilton Honors Diamond member I enjoy staying at different properties throughout the portfolio. But on my few visits to Raleigh, I have ended up at this Doubletree 3 times. This one was my last, I promise. For those dedicated to the Hilton chain and needing to be close to downtown, the only other option is an even more expensive Hampton Inn. Doubletree's niche in the travel market is its offering of cookies upon check-in. So when I asked for a cookie I was told that they were out of them. I was told to come back later, something I really didn't wish to do since I should have been in for the night. But I did receive it later when I went back. Check-in was otherwise smooth. Usually I have the ability to choose my room a day earlier than my arrival, with the digital check-in. When I did the process, it only offered me one room, one on a lower floor. I prefer to be higher and away from potential outside noise. A friend travelling with me was given no choice at all on the digital check-in, but he scored a room on the 8th floor when doing his in-person check-in. The room was adequate for my needs, as far as space was concerned. TV and Internet worked fine. Bed was comfortable and I slept well. Bathroom a bit on the small side. Still enough room on counter for my toiletries, but very tight space between toilet and shower. Breakfast, for which we (supposedly) used our $15 credit, went well. Food was good and filling. However when looking at my e-mailed receipt on the way to my next destination, it was realized that the credit had not been applied and I was charged full price for the breakfast. I had to call the hotel from my train and straighten it out, for which they produced a new receipt. Check-out went quickly and soon I was on my way. Then at home I realized another problem once dust settled on my various hotel stays. I had reserved all my rooms at the 2X rate, to earn double points. I did not receive these extra points for this property. Working with Hilton Honors to resolve but hoping I don't have to call this hotel back to rectify yet another mistake. Overall, they need to get with the program here. Bring the hotel up to current standards and align with the Doubletree and Hilton brands you represent. Having to apologize as much as you need to here should be a wake-up call.
