We stayed at The Clay for 2 weeks! the rooms are clean and tidy but not much else going on in the Hotel. It's older the beds are firm so we really got a taste of the hotel. The Staff were friendly and complimentary water anytime which was nice. When you stay at Espanola Way you are there for the Latin experience. I would have been nice to have some added touches to a very basic room with a firm mattress. The price for the Location was excellent and the access to the beach chairs are covered in the fee. Value for dollar is very good, but this is not a luxury stay. Having access to the balcony is a must as for long term staying its nice. The walls are a bit thin so if you neighbors are feeling frisky at 5am. You will probably hear some "activity" lol.

“Great location”
Check in process was smooth. Great location. Friendly staff. The room was clean but those brown carpets in the room and hallway need to be replaced. Replacing the carpet would elevate the look and feel of the hotel. Alex the overnight manager was awesome!

The Clay Hotel is undergoing renovations and this must be why I got it for a very good price. The location is very good - walking distance to everything in the South Beach area: bars, restaurants, art museums, the beach, shopping... A beach chair, small towel and umbrella are also provided free of charge. This is a nice perk. You actually get something here for your resort fee! (unlike many of the other hotels in SoBe) The room I was in had recently been redone, but the walls were already very scuffed up. Nevertheless, the bathroom was new and clean as was the comfy bed. The air conditioning was nice and cold on a hot day. The carpeting in the room was dirty, though and I recommend slippers or flip flops. Once I ventured out of the room, conditions went downhill. The halls have not been re-done and are dingy, dirty and musty. The floors are uneven and the carpeting here is quite nasty. No matter though, as it is just the hall. The front desk staff was pleasant and the Mexican restaurant that operates out of the first floor is quite yummy (if tourist priced). While there are drawbacks here, the price was right and the room was comfy. I would stay here again.

This hotel is nicely located in Española Way. The location is perfect. The hotel is clean although in reconstruction. It has a mix of history and elegance. Main handicap is that there was a resort fee that was acknowledge nowhere in the reservation but mandatory at check in. Although it was not a big deal, the surprise event is not good. In addition st my moment of check in, there was a customer arguying with the front desk on the rate being charged versus his reservation.
